    Corps seeks comments on plan to temporarily lower Mississippi River elevation near St. Anthony Falls

    St. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is seeking comments on a plan to briefly lower the Mississippi River elevation between the Upper and Lower St. Anthony Falls dams to facilitate inspections of critical infrastructure at these facilities.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District will reopen select recreation areas at its Arkansas lakes – Lake Ouachita, Lake Greeson and DeGray Lake – and incorporate preventative health measures beginning June 24.

    Vicksburg District to open Muddy Bayou Control Structure

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District notified local authorities and emergency management personnel of the need to open the gates of the Muddy Bayou Control Structure, located 13 miles northwest of Vicksburg, Mississippi, in the Yazoo River Basin, within the next four-to-five days.

    Lake Red Rock Picnic Shelters Open to First-Come, First Served

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District will open picnic shelters at Lake Red Rock on a first-come, first-served basis beginning June 22. Reservations will not be accepted and users are asked to select shelters based on their current occupancy and availability.

    Corps of Engineers awards $4.1 million contract to restore part of the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $4.1 million contract to S.M. Hentges & Sons Inc., of Jordan, Minnesota, June 18, to begin constructing a habitat restoration project between Shakopee and Savage, Minnesota.

    Corps seeks public comments for St. Tammany feasibility study

    The Notice of Intent for the St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana Feasibility Study was published on the Federal Register June 19, 2020 and the Corps of Engineers is seeking public comment for the study. The Corps will host virtual meetings to receive public comments; time and location to follow in subsequent media release and advertisements. Written comments will be accepted through August 3, 2020 when the comment period ends.

    Sustainable Rivers Program established at Des Moines River Reservoirs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District and The Nature Conservancy have partnered to establish a Sustainable Rivers Program at Saylorville Lake and Lake Red Rock on the Des Moines River. The emphasis of the program is to benefit aquatic dependent species while continuing to provide the same level of flood risk management to river communities.

    Corps to Conduct Emergency Drill at Locks and Dam 14

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District will conduct an emergency, man overboard drill at Locks and Dam 14 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, at approximately 10 a.m., Thursday, June 18. This drill is conducted as per normal, annual training guidelines.
