    Vicksburg District to reopen Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum June 14 with focus on COVID-19 safety measures

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District will reopen the Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum in downtown Vicksburg, Mississippi, and incorporate preventative health measures beginning June 14.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is repairing its lockmaster house at Lock and Dam 10, in Guttenberg, Iowa.

    Corps to temporarily reduce flows at Orwell Dam

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will be reducing flows from Orwell Dam, near Fergus Falls, Minnesota, starting at 7 a.m. on June 9, in order to allow Otter Tail County staff to relocate mussels for a bridge replacement project downstream of the dam.

    Army Corps of Engineers begins gradual reopening of recreation areas closed due to Coronavirus

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Thursday that it has begun the gradual reopening of some USACE-managed recreation areas that were closed to protect against the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The health and safety of USACE personnel, contractors, volunteers and the visiting public remain our highest priority.

    Change of Command for Mississippi Valley Division

    Maj. Gen. R. Mark Toy will transfer command of the Mississippi Valley Division (MVD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), to Maj. Gen. Diana M. Holland in a formal change of command ceremony June 30 at 10 a.m. at MVD headquarters. Due to the current conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will not be open to the public, but will be live streamed on Facebook @mississippivalleydivision.

    Corps of Engineers issues construction Notice to Proceed for COVID-19 Alternate Care Facility

    Working at the direction of the State of Tennessee and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) issued a “Notice to Proceed” for the conversion of the former Commercial Appeal building today, located at 495 Union Ave. in Memphis to a COVID-19 Alternate Care Facility (ACF). The overall contract was awarded to AECOM Technical Services of Los Angeles, California.

    Vicksburg District to prepare supplemental environmental impact statement for Yazoo Backwater Pumps Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announced April 16 that it will prepare a supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS) for the Yazoo Area Pump Project in the Yazoo Backwater Area in Mississippi. The public is invited to read the notice of intent for the SEIS, which is published in the Federal Register at the following link: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/04/16/2020-07966/notice-of-intent-to-prepare-supplemental-environmental-impact-statement-for-the-yazoo-area-pump and to provide comments in accordance with guidance in the notice.
