    Corps of Engineers and Guttenberg Heritage Society to host ribbon cutting at lockmaster house

    The Guttenberg Heritage Society and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will celebrate the reopening of the historic lockmaster house at Lock and Dam 10 in Guttenberg, Iowa, with a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 6 at 3 p.m.

    Vicksburg, Miss. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District entered into Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) with the City of McComb, Mississippi, May 19 as part of the Mississippi Environmental Infrastructure Program (Section 592).

    Mississippi River Visitor Center at Locks and Dam 15 set to reopen May 23

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, announces the Mississippi River Visitor Center at Locks and Dam 15 on the Rock Island Arsenal will reopen to the public Sunday, May 23. Summer visiting hours through Labor Day weekend will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. seven days a week.

    Corps seeks public comment on service base modernization project

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, seeks comments on a draft environmental assessment for proposed upgrades to the Corps’ service base in Fountain City, Wisconsin, that will improve the efficiency of the facility as well and provide a safer working environment for employees.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, invites the public and media to attend a christening ceremony for the Motor Vessel Quincy at the Clat Adams Bicentennial Park in Quincy, Illinois, Friday, April 30, at noon. Following the ceremony, public tours of the vessel will be available until 4 p.m.

    USACE Vicksburg District announces new Internal Review chief

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has selected Cora Fuller as chief of Internal Review. Fuller will advise USACE Vicksburg District Commander Robert Hilliard on accounting, financial, and managerial issues that require examination by a financial professional. In this role, she will provide a full spectrum of internal review and related services designed to add value to command operations.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The USACE Vicksburg District recently recognized Lake Ouachita volunteers Sidney and Grace Welch with the Volunteer Excellence Coin for their years of exemplary service at the lake’s Denby Point Recreation Area. Created in partnership with the Corps Foundation, the award recognizes volunteers’ extraordinary skills and contributions and encourages an attitude of stewardship and responsibility in caring for USACE lands, facilities, and resources.
