    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District hosted its annual Engineer’s Day awards ceremony at the district’s headquarters building in Vicksburg, Mississippi, June 25. Employees were recognized with a variety of honorary individual and team awards, and the ceremony was broadcast to the district’s teleworking personnel via YouTube Live in order to maintain safe social distancing measures.
  • Corps of Engineers issues construction Notice to Proceed for COVID-19 Alternate Care Facility

    Working at the direction of the State of Tennessee and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) issued a “Notice to Proceed” for the conversion of the former Commercial Appeal building today, located at 495 Union Ave. in Memphis to a COVID-19 Alternate Care Facility (ACF). The overall contract was awarded to AECOM Technical Services of Los Angeles, California.
  • Corps of Engineers modifying operations at recreation areas due to COVID-19

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District has closed all visitor centers, beaches and project offices to the public to protect against the further spread of COVID-19.
  • Mississippi River Commission high-water inspection trip and public hearings canceled

    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mississippi River Commission (MRC) has canceled its annual high-water inspection trip and public hearings on board the MV Mississippi, which was scheduled for March 29 – April 3, 2020. The health and safety for people is a priority during this critical time in our nation. In order to allow public testimony to still be received by the commission, individual districts will solicit testimony to be filed for the record from stakeholders with an opening date for submission of March 23, 2020, and closing on April 3, 2020.  Additional instructions will be provided with the solicitation.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mississippi Valley Division (MVD) and its six districts, St. Paul; Rock Island; St. Louis; Memphis; Vicksburg; and New Orleans, are implementing protective measures to help keep people safe during this critical time in our nation. MVD and districts will continue operating with minimal onsite staffing by maximizing telework, but we will ensure that mission essential personnel are immediately available and responsive to our high priority missions.
