  • Upper Mississippi River 2021 navigation season comes to an end

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, locked the last tow to depart St. Paul, Minnesota, yesterday, Nov. 23 – ending the 2021 navigation season on the Upper Mississippi River.
  • USACE Vicksburg District begins drawdown of Thatcher Lock and Dam

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District will begin pool draw down at Thatcher Lock and Dam on Nov. 19, 2021, to make repairs to the seal of the hinge crest gate. The pool at Thatcher Lock and Dam is expected to fall as much as six inches per day, from 77 to 72 feet. The USACE Vicksburg District is working with City of Camden personnel to create a slower draw down from 73 to 72 feet to closely monitor the city’s water supply intake pipes. It is possible that the draw down might have to continue to 71 feet if the inspection cannot be completed at 72 feet.
  • Rend Lake Park Ranger Becomes First-Ever 2x Recipient of National Award

    U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Natural Resource Specialist Timothy Bischoff received the service’s Hiram H. Chittenden Award for Interpretive Excellence today. Bischoff, the service’s first ever two-time recipient of the award was recognized by the 55th Chief of Engineers Lieutenant General Scott A. Spellmon, in a virtual service-wide ceremony. 
  • USACE Vicksburg District Thatcher Lock and Dam public notice - UPDATE

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District continues to monitor river levels near Thatcher Lock and Dam (L&D), where pool elevation has fallen below normal pool level due to a leak in the seal of the hinge crest gate.
  • USACE launches temporary roofing pilot program following Hurricane Ida

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state of Louisiana, recently launched a pilot program to explore temporary roofing options for homes that may otherwise have been disqualified from the USACE Operation Blue Roof program.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) and Environmental Branch invites the public to a Virtual FUSRAP Open House Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
  • Corps of Engineers installs final Hurricane Ida blue roof

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers installed its final blue roof Monday in New Orleans, Louisiana, as part of Operation Blue Roof emergency response for Hurricane Ida.
  • Army Corps of Engineers waives day use fees at recreation areas in observance of Veterans Day

    WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,850 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in observance of Veterans Day, Nov. 11. This includes areas the St. Louis District operates within the Area of Operation.
