Brigadier General Kimberly A. Peeples assumed command of the Mississippi Valley Division (MVD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), July 12, 2023. Peeples serves as the senior military officer in the division, headquartered in Vicksburg, Mississippi, responsible for water resources engineering solutions in a 370,000-square-mile area, extending from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico and encompassing portions of 12 states. The mission of the division is to serve the Mississippi Valley region by providing vital public engineering services and stewardship of water resource infrastructure, partnering in peace and war, to strengthen our nation’s security, energize the economy and reduce risks from disasters. The division’s work is carried out by district offices located in St. Paul, Minnesota; Rock Island, Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; Memphis, Tennessee; Vicksburg, Mississippi; and New Orleans, Louisiana.

Prior to coming to MVD, Brig. Gen. Peeples served as Commander of the Great Lakes and Ohio Rivers Division (LRD) from 11 June 2021 to 11 July 2023. During her command, Brig. Gen. Peeples was responsible for delivering engineering and water resources solutions for the Great Lakes and Ohio River region, which covers 335,000 square miles and encompasses portions of seventeen states.

Prior to LRD Peeples served as commander of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall and Fort McNair from 6 April 2018 to 6 May 2021. Engineer Bridge Platoon Leader in the 74th Engineer Company, Vertical Construction Platoon Leader in Alpha Company, and Executive Officer of the 74th Engineer Company, 62nd Engineer Battalion (Combat Heavy) at Fort Hood, TX. Executive Officer of the 74th Engineer Company, Commander of Bravo Company, 864th Engineer Company at Fort Lewis, WA. Project Engineer at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Program Manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Kansas City District, Kansas City, MO. Brigade Engineer of the 4th Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA. Program Manager in the White House Military Office, Commander of the U.S. Army Garrison Carlisle Barracks, PA. And the Deputy Director for Operations for the U.S. Army Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management HQDA G9 at the Pentagon. Peeples’ deployments include support of Operation Joint Endeavor (Bosnia) and two deployments supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Peeples’ military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic Course, the Air Defense Artillery Advanced Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College. She holds a master’s degree in Construction Management from the University of Washington in Seattle and a master’s degree from the U.S. Army War College in Strategic Studies.

Her awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit Award with Oak Leaf Cluster Award, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Com-mendation Medal, and the Joint Service Achievement Medal. She is also a recipient of the General Douglas MacArthur Army Leadership Award.
