Jackson Park – Section 506
Ecosystem restoration projects sometimes preserve history. This pond was restored in Jackson Park at the site of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. The fringe marsh, sedge meadow, savanna and woodland habitats restored the oasis of nature that the renowned landscaper designer Frederick Law Olmsted envisioned over 125 years ago for the south side of Chicago.
