Maj. Gen. Kimberly A. Peeples assumed command of the Mississippi Valley Division, on July 12, 2023. Peeples serves as the senior military officer in the division, headquartered in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and is responsible for water resources engineering solutions in a 370,000-square-mile area extending from Canada to the Gulf of America and encompassing portions of 12 states. The division serves the Mississippi Valley region by providing vital public engineering services and stewardship of water resource infrastructure, partnering in peace and war, strengthening our nation's security, energizing the economy and reducing risks from disasters. The work is carried out by six district offices located in St. Paul, Minnesota; Rock Island, Illinois; St. Louis; Memphis, Tennessee; Vicksburg, Mississippi; and New Orleans.

Previously, she served as commanding general of the Great Lakes and Ohio Rivers Division beginning in June 2021. During her command, Peeples was responsible for delivering engineering and water resources solutions for the Great Lakes and Ohio River region, which covers 335,000 square miles and encompasses portions of 17 states.

Peeples previous assignments include serving as commander of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall and Fort McNair, Washington, DC; for operations for the U.S. Army assistant chief of staff for installation management at the Pentagon; commander of the U.S. Army Garrison Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania; program manager in the White House military office; brigade engineer of the 4th Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia; project engineer at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; program manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, Kansas City, Missouri; executive officer of the 74th Engineer Company; commander of Bravo Company, 864th Engineer Company at Fort Lewis, Washington; engineer bridge platoon leader in the 74th Engineer Company; vertical construction platoon leader in Company A; and executive officer of the 74th Engineer Company, 62nd Engineer Battalion (Combat Heavy) at Fort Hood, Texas.

Her operational deployments include Operation Joint Endeavor (Bosnia) and two deployments supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Peeples' military education includes the U.S. Army War College, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Air Defense Artillery Advanced Course and Engineer Officer Basic Course, the, the. She holds a master’s degree in construction management from the University of Washington in Seattle and a master's degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College.

Her awards and decorations include two Legions of Merit cluster, two Bronze Star Medals, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal Joint Service Achievement Medal and two Army Achievement Medals. She is also a recipient of the General Douglas MacArthur Army Leadership Award.
