    President Donald Trump recently appointed Maj. Gen. Richard G. Kaiser as the president of the Mississippi River Commission and Col. Paul E. Owen as a member of the commission. Commission appointments are nominated by the President of the U.S. and vetted by the U.S. Senate.
  • Change of Command for Mississippi Valley Division

    Maj. Gen. Michael C. Wehr will transfer command of the Mississippi Valley Division (MVD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, to Maj. Gen. Richard G. Kaiser in a formal change of command ceremony Sept. 7. The ceremony will be officiated by the Corps' Chief of Engineers Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite and will take place at 10 a.m. in the Information Technology Laboratory at the Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg.
  • Mississippi River Commission Schedules Low-Water Inspection Trip

    The Mississippi River Commission (MRC) will conduct its annual low-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River Aug. 7-18, 2017. Four public meetings have been scheduled aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in selected towns along the river so commission members have the opportunity to meet with local partners, stakeholders and residents to hear their concerns, ideas and issues.
  • President's Fiscal 2018 Budget for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works Program released

    The President’s Budget for fiscal year 2018 (FY 2018) includes $5.002 billion in gross discretionary funding for the Civil Works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps). "The fiscal 2018 Civil Works budget for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reflects the administration's priorities to support and improve the nation's economy and infrastructure, and to protect the American people," said Mr. Doug Lamont, senior official performing the duties of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works. "This Budget supports the core mission areas of coastal and inland navigation, reducing flood risks from riverine flooding and along our coasts, and restoring aquatic ecosystems.”
