  • St. Tammany Feasibility Study Draft Report virtual public meetings scheduled

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District has scheduled two virtual public meetings to gather input regarding the St. Tammany Parish Feasibility Study with Integrated Environmental Impact Statement. The goal of the study is to develop alternatives to reduce flood damages caused by hurricane and rainfall events. The meetings will be held via WebEx and simultaneously streamed on the district’s Facebook page on June 28 and 29, 2021.
  • Corps to operate Bonnet Carré Spillway

    NEW ORLEANS – Increasing water levels as a result of heavy rain in the Mississippi and Ohio river valleys are prompting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to operate the Bonnet Carré Spillway to ensure safe passage of the Mississippi river through the greater New Orleans area.
  • Lower Mississippi River stages above normal

    As 2018 nears closure and the MVD begins planning for 2019, we remain vigilant in monitoring flood stages in the Mississippi River valley. Because of the current higher-than-average river stages, the lower valley will be more susceptible to large rain events throughout the winter. Residents with a vested interest in the Mississippi River valley are asked to monitor river stages over the next three to four months.
