  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Requests Information on Conceptual Public-Private Partnership (P3) Delivery of Civil Works Projects

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today in the Federal Register a 60-day period for the submission of information on conceptual Public-Private Partnership (P3) delivery of specific USACE Civil Works projects. Information must be submitted to Headquarters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on or before midnight, April 2, to be eligible for consideration.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to Conduct Stakeholder Session on WRDA 2018 Implementation Guidance

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct a Stakeholder Session, Monday, Feb. 11, to get public input on USACE development of implementation guidance for various provisions contained in the Water Resources Development Act of 2018 (WRDA 2018). WRDA 2018 was signed into law Oct. 23, 2018, as Title I of the America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018.

  • Teamwork and Technology: Game changers for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

    Teamwork is the cohesive bond which unites the Corps. Whether it be engineering solutions or disaster response. This year’s hurricane season tested the USACE’s mission set of supporting the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA. The Corps assists FEMA’s emergency support function #3 (ESF-3) mission by providing services, technical assistance, engineering expertise, construction management and other support functions to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters or incidents. Hurricane Florence in early September provided the conduit for the Corps to come together and provide not only boots-on-the-ground assistance, but to offer their technological expertise. Geographic information systems (GIS) and the USACE’s Modeling, Mapping and Consequences Production Center (MMC) were two entities that the Corps utilized during this year’s hurricane season.

  • Lower Mississippi River stages above normal

    As 2018 nears closure and the MVD begins planning for 2019, we remain vigilant in monitoring flood stages in the Mississippi River valley. Because of the current higher-than-average river stages, the lower valley will be more susceptible to large rain events throughout the winter. Residents with a vested interest in the Mississippi River valley are asked to monitor river stages over the next three to four months.

    The Mississippi Valley Division (MVD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, held its annual awards ceremony Sept. 7, 2018, at division headquarters where awards were presented to MVD employees.

  • Mississippi River Commission schedules low-water inspection trip

    The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual low-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River Aug. 20-24. Four public meetings are scheduled aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in select towns along the river so commission members have the opportunity to meet with local partners, stakeholders and residents and hear their concerns, ideas and issues.

    Mississippi River Commission member, Brig. Gen. Mark R. Toy, was promoted to the rank of major general by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Commanding General and 54th Chief of Engineers Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite July 11 in a ceremony held at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California.

  • Reeder sworn in as Mississippi River Commission member

    VICKSBURG, MISS. – James A. Reeder was sworn in as a member of the Mississippi River Commission at the commission’s headquarters in Vicksburg, Mississippi, July 11. Mississippi River Commission President Maj. Gen. Richard Kaiser administered the oath of office during Reeder’s visit.
