COMKAF floods engineers with commendations KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (Nov. 12, 2010) – Eight members of the 579th Engineer Detachment (FEST-M) received the Commander of Kandahar Airfield (COMKAF) Commendation during a private ceremony held last night in Afghanistan. Air Commodore Gordon Moulds, COMKAF, presented the award to the deployed FEST-M members for their hard work and dedication towards a technical engineering project completed for Kandahar Airfield. According to the award citation, each individual researched and contributed to a technical report, which aims to prevent large areas of the airfield being lost to catastrophic flooding during the winter. The FEST-M members’ dedication and professionalism provided the technical basis for major engineering work to take place at KAF during this fall in coordination with KAF’s Storm Water Control Structures.
